Nosky said that MySlice will not be faster or better than S.C.O.R.E., and students who wait until the last minute to add or drop courses will most likely have a delay, just as with the current system.
Then why are we making the chenge? If it isn't faster or better whats the use in changing to a completely new system?
update: I just realized that this was my 200th entry. I was sort of hoping for something a little bit more earth shattering, but I guess that entry will be #300.
I must have a sign on me that says "Please try to run me over" Over the past 7 days I have almost been hit 4 times. Granted 3 of those times I slipped into absent minded professor mode and was walking along reading a book and stepped out into traffic, but this evening definitely wasn’t one of those. I was walking to Starbucks and stepped into the road at a stop sign after no one was coming. This gray Passat comes roaring up the road and doesn’t bother to stop for me. I had to jump out of the way and he still blew through the stop sign.
On happier news, I’m getting closer to purchasing a painting. I just need to hear back about the shipping costs and then a check will be sent off. Tomorrow=PayDay :-)
So yea I worked the overnight shift on Friday cause there weren’t any parties I was interested in going to, and man oh man did we get spanked hardcore. It was all nice and silent from 10 when my shift started until around 1230 when we just got call after call after call. I probably should have realized something was going to happen when we (Car4 and myself) were driving around and we saw 10 police cars within a 2 block stretch of road (That isn’t counting the cars we couldn’t see).
We ended up having so many calls we had to page out for a backup crew 2 times to help cover the campus and surrounding area. Friday night/ Sat morning also solidified in my mind what a complete bunch of jackasses the entire public safety department is. We’ve been having issues with them all year but man did they screw up big time.
On a separate note, I submitted 3 more job applications and I am looking at two other companies so hopefully I will have some sort of job lined up for when I graduate in May. The bitch in concord has calmed down
I think that the evil hag who lives in Concord (read: the recently very bitchy parental unit) has finally rubbed off on me a little bit. I spent about 2 hours the other day working on my resume and typing out a new cover letter to send out with the resume…
This was one of the things that over the summer caused me to almost move away from the house temporarily. She started telling me about how I was lazy and needed to start thinking about applying to jobs and sending out my resume to different companies. Fucking bitch it’s the middle of July. No one will take me seriously if I start sending it out now. {bitch}
Fast forward to now. There were two companies/places/agencies that I just applied to and both require a government security clearance. I was figuring that since they had a December deadline for applications to be submitted by I would give them an early one just so they could send out an acceptance letter to me (saving them and myself a lot of anguish in the long run).
Other trivia that’s going on: My fucking department chair is refusing to let a professor give me a GA ship (read like 13k to 14k of funding. That’s tuition and a 1300 stipend each month). Instead he is forcing the professor to give it to some foreign student who can’t speak English and doesn’t know the material. The only reason he gets it is that he (I’m assuming it’s a he, but come on its engineering) is that he had a 3.5 GPA. Fucking prick. I could have a 3.5 GPA if I didn’t decide to do things like take 2nd year masters level courses when I was a junior.
Searching for new shoes. The one decent pair I have is giving me blisters so I’m needing to go searching for a new pair. I’m leaning heavily towards Camper, which is a Spanish company. I’m going to need to drive back to Boston (again) to go to their store though.
Actor Macaulay Culkin, who gained fame as a child in the smash hit "Home Alone," was arrested in Oklahoma City Friday for possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, police said.
I guess its been about the right amount of time since the last washed-up celeb got busted for drug posession...
I talked to one of best friends this evening Evan and its amazing how much better talking to him makes me feel. Don't he and his fiance looks cute together in their picture. Any way One of the reason's I really admire evan is that he hasn't really followed what one would call a 'normal' career path. Its not really my place to go into all the details, but hes followed the path he feels is best rather than what society thinks is best.
Evan thanks for the talks
I realize that at times my grammar and spelling are less then adequate, but it still astounds me that when people are sending out emails for 409 scams via email that they don’t even bother to check through the English with someone at least vaguely knowledgeable with the language. As an example I give you a selected paragraph from a recent email I received.
Following the sudden death of my father's Sir John Hendrich the late farmer cattle in South Africa. I am Miss Sarah Hendrich, the daughter of late Sir John Hendrich, the re-knower white Zimbabwean wine and cattle farmer. I got your contacts through my personal research, and out of desperation decided to reach you through this medium. During the war waged against the farmer in Zimbabwe be the supporters and cohorts of President Robert Mutable to claim all the white owned farms in our country, my late father's big farms were among those targeting by the ZANU-PF armed group. I will give you more information as to this regard as soon as you reply.
Ill admit it, my life pretty much sucks at the moment. I worked the Saturday overnight at SUA from 2130-0900 at which point I went home and then got paged back in for a standby at the JuiceJam festival which lasted until 1700 and I left quarters around 1745 after restocking the rig. So lets do the math people, that’s 3 hours and 45 minutes less than a day so that means I worked 20 hours and 15 minutes (+ or – a little bit). I ended up falling over because I was so tired and then went home and slept for the next 14 hours. Upper back and shoulders definitely feeling the burn after carrying a few people the other night on the stretcher…definitely time for a massage sometime this week (mental note schedule it)
My espresso machine broke so I am looking at replacing it with one that’s a bit better made, so that’s going to be about 500 or 600 down the drain depending on what type I eventually decide to get. Another depressing thought especially seeing as I don’t really have that much of an income (God I hate being a student). I’m constantly questioning my decision to pursue a MS in Computer Science, isn’t there something more fulfilling that I could be doing? People focus way too much on their work and their possessions (Yes I realize how hypocritical this sounds as I’m going to be poking down a rather large sum on a glorified coffee maker).
On the relationship front: Nothing. I was talking with someone for a while, but that turned more into a friendship thing than anything else. I think I might try the internet dating thing like the flatmate Reid did. He wasn’t too successful with it, but maybe i'll have better luck (doubt it though).
On the upside, going back to Concord/Boston on Friday morning for the weekend. Stupid state exam being scheduled on a weekend. This isn’t all that bad, but from the end of my class its been more than a month so I’m bound to have forgotten a LOT of stuff.
