I have a true confession to make folks. I get up every morning worried that I am about to get an email from the DoD announcing that two of my friends have been killed in Iraq. A few years when I needed some data to analyze, I signed up for 3 DoD mailing lists (Not sure that they are open subscribe any more). Recently these lists haven’t been sending out the same messages that I was used to (by recently I mean since ‘operation Iraqi Freedom began’) and instead have been sending out the announcements of soldiers killed as well as blurbs about each soldier.
I know that my fear is potentially irrational seeing as how there are a huge number of people in Iraq now, but its an email I will continue to dread getting. I heard from two of the people recently and made them promise to send me email every once in a while.
Its time for a drink now.
