Its that time again,

1. Who is your favorite singer/musician? Why?
At the moment I don't really have an overall favorite singer/musician. Although people who are near the top of the list are PvD, Something Corporate, and a couple of classical composers.

2. What one singer/musician can you not stand? Why?
Christina Aguilera. Dirty Dirty hoe-bitch. Nuff said.

3. If your favorite singer wasn't in the music business, do you think you would still like him/her as a person?
I can't really answer this question because I probably wouldn't know the singers if they didn't preform. Catch-22

4. Have you been to any concerts? If yes, who put on the best show?
Thats a tough one. The first concert I have fond memories of was U2 during their popmart tour. Recently though (well not all that recent but anyway) was Billy Joel. I went with some friends and when we arrived early one of his assistants found us and asked to see out tickets. He took them :-( Then gave us front row center tickets as a replacement:-)

5. What are your thoughts on downloading free music online vs. purchasing albums? Do you feel the RIAA is right in its pursuit to stop people from dowloading free music?
Well theres a difference between 'free' music and mucis that has been copied without verifying the copyright. Some techno artists make their music available for free on the internet with no strings attached. Thats one intrepretation of free, the other one being someone just not wanting to purchase an album and they decide to download it. Im all for this (in a limited way). If you downlaod the album, listen to it once and like it, you should go out and purchase it. If you don't like the music, then you should rm the files. case closed. If you don't like it theres no reas to keep them around. I don't agree with the RIAA's tactics when following up on their legal threats. They have been too heavy handed recently.

I am mostly with you on the music downloading thing. In concept anyways, but then I think about it and realize that bands get next to nothing off of their record sales, and this bothers me. I would rather download their music for free and then pay to see them in concert where they actually get a reasonable cut of the money.
If I spent all my money on all of the CDs that I want to listen to, I would never have any money to go to said concerts because well...shows get expensive, fast.
So what ends up happening is that I buy albums of artists that I already know that I like when they come out, and then download music that I have never heard of before. I figure that I can buy their next album if I really like them.

hmmm, I keep forgetting that bands get different cuts depending upon what type of medium the song is played in (concert vs. recorded media). The problem with concerts is that all of the ones I want to go to seem to sell out before I can get tickets (and I can't jsutify the cost of a scalper) so I have to make due with the next best thing...CDs
