WTF???

I open up my email this afternoon and I have this strange email from the University. {excerpts to follow}

...
Syracuse University's Logistics Emergency Preparedness Committee
met Thursday to review University preparations. SU has taken
precautionary measures to prepare for the storm. Among these:...
-Both permanent and portable backup generators are in place.

-Stocks of emergency food, water and other supplies are filled.

-University vehicles are fueled and secured.

...
Individuals are advised to also prepare:

-As the storm approaches, close your windows, blinds and drapes.

-Know the exits to your classroom/work building/residence.

-Have a portable radio, batteries, supply of water and
flashlight on hand. (A reminder for those in a residence hall:
Candles are not allowed.)

-If outdoors, beware of flying debris and downed power lines
(presume they are live and keep your distance).

-Have your cell phone charged.
---------------
I was sort of under the impression that the advisories for students were more in the common sense department, stufff that didn't necessitate an actual announcement. I also found it particularly amusing that they thought to include 'charge your cell phones.' By actually saying this the school indirectly implied that everyone here has enough money to go out and get a cel phone, while most people here do have them, that mere suggestion is a tad insulting. As to the power lines I have this to say DUHHHHHH.

Sometimes the stupidity of the university amazes me. Actually that reminds me, I need to go out and get some food cause im more or less out now.
