I was driving around syracuse thisafternoon looking for a particular store (didn't find it...I think it went out of business or something) and I ran accross something that mad eme really sad. There was a Sheriff standing outside of what I think was a middle school wearing a bullet-proof vest emblazoned with the word "Sheriff" on it.
While I am all for seeing police doing their jobs, I think it is sooo freaking sad that they feel the need (or were required to) wear kevlar vests while on duty. This says something very bad about our society. We are too violent, we don't respect authority (or most of us don't respect authority). I should really have pulled over and said somethign to the guy who was obviously hot and not enjoying this particular day of work but I was in a rush.
Slow down people, enjoy the scenery and if you have a free moment, PLEASE stop and start talking to someone that you might not necessairily have talked to otherwise. The world should be a better place for you minute bit of effort.
